Helen Wooten-Keller Founder/CEO of HK & Associates is no stranger to the music industry:
she started singing and writing her own songs at the age of 10. By the age of 13, Herb Kent - well known Chicago disc jockey - featured her brilliant
youth as his Saturday teen D.J. on Chicago's own WVON 1450 AM.
A Resident of Chi-town's West Side, Helen attended John Marshall High School where she soon surrounded herself with young and upcoming
songwriters, singers and producers. Pooling these resources together, she put together shows known during that time as Teen Jamborees These shows
enabled Helen to bring on special guest artists to make special appearances to close out show.
Some of these artists included: Gene Chandler
(The Duke of Earl), Major Lance, (Monkey Time),The Chi-Lites and the Ideals (Go Gorilla)just to begin with with. Shortly thereafter she began booking
acts such as Maurice & Radiant (Don't It Make Me Feel Kind of Sad), The Mighty Dells (Stay In My Corner), Minnie Ripperton (at that time a member of The Gems)
and The Kittens... the first black group to perform on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Years of multifaceted experiences had prepared Helen to not only
prove her to be an effective Executive Producer, but to also wear several hats including wardrobe, set design, locations and assisting the casting director for the movie "When Thugs Cry".
(2003) Maverick/Lions Gate).
Taking on all of these roles in the movie production process proved to be an integral part in the movies completion: Moreover it ensured that a movie which was
greatly under financed and understaffed... was ready for distribution (for which Maverick, Artesian & Lions Gate can be accredited).
Helen is currently working on an autobiography of her life
in the entertainment business. In addition, Helen has agreed to work with others on the sequel for "When Thugs Cry" ("Thugs Don't Cry Anymore").
